Spicy Texan

I discovered this drink at a BBQ place in Austin. Unfortunately I don't recall the name. Oops. The drink is quite refreshing. Kind of a summer drink, but I like it all the time regardless.

2 oz Tequila
1/4 oz St Germain (maybe 1/3 oz. adjust to taste)
1 oz Lime Juice
1 oz Jalapeno-Basil Simple Syrup

Shake over ice and strain into a rocks glass with a large jalapeno imdebbed ice cube.

To make the Jalapeno-Basil Simple Syrup, just start with making simple syrup (I use 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water) over the stove in a pot. Get it to a light simmer. Add in Jalapeno slices from 2 jalapenos (leave in the seeds for a slightly spicier taste). Simmer for 10 minutes. Add a bunch of basil leaves. Monitor it as it simmers for another 10 minutes stirring occasionaly. You may want to add more basil as the leaves shrivel. Strain through cheese cloth into a large squeeze bottle.
