I stumbled upon a nice red Mustang while looking for something else (a future column) and since I didn't have anything else ready for this month I decided to see what other 65-68 Mustangs I could find in Texas for under $20K.

It was slim pickings. So I went nation wide. Below are 3 Texas cars, followed by 5 from around the country.

Comments: When I saw the thumbnails I thought this was going to have the two-tone Pony interior I love so much. Alas, it is a two tone standard interior. But it looks soooo good. This is the car I came across by accident... and got me looking.

Comments: Now we're talking two tone Pony interiors. Aqua and Parchment, not bad. EmberGlo or Blue would have been better. But I like it. We even have air conditioning and the Rally Pac gauges.

1966 Ford Mustang - $17,000

Description: 302 engine, new front end suspension, working A/C, power steering, new Sony CD radio detachable face with remote and power antenna, new interior, this car is in excellent condition and ready to drive! New electrical kit, this car was just fully restored in 2010-2011.

Comments: Another two tone interior that is not a Pony interior. But look at it. It look s sweet. All the faux wood grain... even on the air conditioner. I don't think I have ever seen that.

1965 Ford Mustang - $14,900

Description: 289 / 2 barrel, C4 automatic transmission, power steering, clean straight rust-free body and floors, older restoration but always garaged, runs great drive anywhere.

Comments: I really like this Mustang. The color combination makes it hard to think of it as anything but a nice cruiser. I don't know if I would try the resto-mod thing here to increase performance and handling and such. It seems really nice the way it is. However, it does not have air conditioning, so we have some work to do for Texas driving.

1965 Ford Mustang - $11,900

Description: Solid body and floors, 200/ 6-cylinder engine with automatic transmission, cold air conditioning, runs and drives good, plenty of power, good on gas, ready to cruise.

Comments: Talking about cruisers... a 6 cylinder Mustang is just that. I love the bench seat... and this car already has A/C. So what's stopping me. Oh yea, not enough money... yet!

Comments: I had to look a couple of times before I realized this is a convertible. I don't think I have even seen a convertible top this color on a Mustang before. But what drew me into this car is the interior. My two favorite interiors for Mustangs are the Blue & Parchment and the EmberGlo & Parchment Pony interiors from 66, with the wood grain dash. This car is in my top tow. When well restored these interiors freaking pop. This one is hard to tell if it will pop in person, but close enough. I like it.

1967 Ford Mustang - $11,495

Description: 1967 Ford Mustang, was 6 cylinder - 3 speed, now 302 ~ 4 Speed, LOADS of New Parts.

Comments: The pictures here do not do this car justice. The ones on their web site were better, but they did some hokey flash thing that made it impossible form me to save them (at least easily). This car is a 20 footer. They had a video, and they were careful not to show you the door trim, but a glance got in and the trim is in need of work. But generally it is a clean looking car that would need some detail work to make you proud to take it to the local shows.

1968 Ford Mustang - $16,800

Description: 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe w/ PPG Aqua Blue finish & clear w/ Black interior and nice vinyl bucket's,289 CI V-8/ 4 barrel,C-4 automatic transmission, new chrome, fac. Straight body and solid under carriage....truly a fine example ready to drive and enjoy.
