I am a Programmer/Analyst by trade. I have been using the Internet since before most of you. I was in the military and used it back when the general public didn't have access.
I have had a web site of my own in one form or another, and in one place or another since 1995. However, I settled on the basic format you are looking at in August 1997.
I am an avid car lover. This is one of the reasons I have two car related articles every month. If I won the lottery I would quit my job and start working in the automotive industry.
In the mean time I am a programmer. My primary work focuses on Visual Studio 2008 (and 2005) connecting to Oracle 10g for our primary database. I still maintain a couple of applications in Visual Basic 6 (joy!), but the largest current VB6 application is scheduled to be re-written from scratch in early 2010. The project I am working on as I write this is the precursor to this large project, and will be the code base for the replacement. I look forward to that challenge, and challenge it will be. With no formal requirements I needed to write my own. I am sure I forgot some things. There are some unique problems to overcome, and the project is supposed to take 2-1/2 months... assuming it was the only project I worked on. I expect it will take 4 - 5 months to complete. I look forward to it.
That's it. I love feedback. It is the only way I know that people are reading my stuff. I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to e-mail me. To get past my spam filters all you have to do is have my initials (sml) in the subject line. This is easy because all the e-mail links I provide do this for you. Something the spammers haven't figured out until they actually read the web pages they farm for e-mail addresses.
